Week 8

Part 1

For week eight the first assignment we did was “freedom to read”. When we had to choose two articles to read one of them I chose was about censorship and the extant people will go just because they don’t want that piece of art, book, movie etc. out in public. I was irritated with the way people can be sometimes threatening an artist’s life because someone thinks there artwork is inappropriate, I think that’s a little immature. The other assignments we had to do were too basically to start putting our pathfinders together. It was nice to do this assignment because I was able to see that there is still some information that I need to get for my final project.

Part 2

This week was a little stressful for me. For one it doesn’t help having the stupid flu almost the entire week. That did not help one bit! But trying to get everything together and seeing what I have and don’t have for information makes it a little stressful. I know I don’t really like my periodicals so I’m going to try and find some good ones but I’m a little nervous that the ones I have are the best ones there are ( but there must be some better ones somewhere!)

Week 7

WOW! Another week completed with and only a few more to go. I can’t believe its almost over but I also cant wait. Luckily this week went by pretty easily. For the assignment “web search” I thought that one was interesting, I was able to use sites I’ve never even heard of, such as the dogpile. But that assignment took me the longest to do. For some reason every time I would search for a keyword I couldn’t get any information but luckily I eventually found some. For the Citation assignment that one was very easy.

Overall all the assignments were easy for me this week. Having an easy assignment such as the citation one was defiantly a stress reliever. But, I’m very happy that we did web search assignment. I was able to find two amazing sites that will defiantly be on my pathfinder.

Week 6

Part 1.

During the week had an assignment “My Research Strategy” . I think this assignment was another helpful one to do. I was able to think of more words or phrases that would go along with my topic perfectly. After I was finish with the assignment and had sent it off, I of coarse found other words that would have been perfect for the assignment. But I wasn’t too bummed because I was able to put them under Key Words section in the “Revised Research Plan” assignment.

Part 2.

Over all I think this week was a pretty easy one. And I’m excited to see how our final projects are finally coming together. Good luck with week 7 it looks like it’s going to be a tough one!

Part 1. Reflections on Course Content

Almost all the assignments were easy for me. But when I was doing part of the last assignment I found a new word that meant the same as my topic. Ecoterrorism, which is just another word for bioterrorism. I hope by discovering the word I will be able to expand my searching’s and find even more information on my topic.


Part 2. Applications to your Life

For me week five was easy I only had trouble with one assignment. The first assignment “MLA Citation Style” was very easy since I have been citing information since grade school. The second assignment “Annotation Analysis” I thought, was also very easy. I have never heard of Annotations before so I enjoyed doing this assignment and learning something new. The last assignment “Citing and Annotating Sources” I did have trouble with. Dissecting an Annotation was easy but have to create one your self wasn’t the most fun. I had trouble finding the information that I needed to put in to it. I could find a lot about the author’s background form both of them so I just put down the information it gave me. But in the end I’m happy with my work and the fact that I’m finding more information on my topic makes me even happier. :)

Week 4

For week four I started on the "How I Know Part 1" assignment. I searched all over the web for the origin of Canuck. I'm not one hundred percent sure on if the origin is actually form a comic book characters name but it was the only answer that came up multiply times. For Part 2 of "How I Know" was kind of fun. People often don't sit there and think about how we know the things we know and why. So this assignment gave everyone the chance to sit there and think about how we actually know what we know. I realized that I know everything i know just from living life. If I didn't go to school, go outside, go shopping, go to work etc. there would be thousands of thing I didn't know.



Doing the "Research Plan" i think, helped out a lot when it comes to our topics. I was able to see how my final project might turn out, and how i need to look for some more information in certain sections of my topic. I was also very interested in the video we had to watch for the "Selecting Information Sources" assignment. I never really realized how important events get out into the news world so quickly. But its true about how everything first gets put on the web a.s.a.p. and then hours later or the next day its all over the television etc. I never sat there and actually thought about it before.

week 3

Part 1:

When I read about the Organize Information assignment I automatically thought about all my make-up that I have and using that would work perfect for the assignment, and it did. I had a fun time doing that assignment and I’m actually doing what I wrote for my assignment now. It’s been very convenient organizing everything that way. For the database assignment I had no problems with any of the websites. Some of the articles I found were actually really interesting. The only thing I am worried about is that there might not be enough information on my topics, so I’m hoping if I broaden my searches that this would help. So, instead of just searching for “bioterrorism” if I start searching for biowarfare or even the agents of bioterrorism such as, anthrax I’m hoping that will help.

Part2:

The only problem that I ran into was just worrying that I won’t have enough information for the final project. But I think I will be ok. I think doing the database assignment help me by understanding proquest better, I’ve never really done any work based on information from proquest so that assignment help out a lot.

Week 2

Part 1. Reflections on Course Content.

When I started looking for my topic I had absolutely no idea what I was going to pick. I decided to just start looking for something that might catch my eye. I went to the site that were provided and just starting looking around. The first thing that caught my eye was a section that had to do with health so I clicked on it and it brought me to a list of ideas and one of them being bioterrorism. And after that I just started to thing of ideas, such as, my last two HIV/AIDS and the water crisis. After looking for information on all the topics I decided the one I wanted to have my topic be was bioterrorism.

Part 2. Applications to your life.

So far I haven't had to many problems with the assignments, its just been try to find time to do them. I have other classes to which are online and they ask for quite a bight of my time too, I'm sure all of you can understand that.

As I said I didn't have to many problems with the work but I did have a few. One was trying to find a good encyclopedia for my topic. I ended up finding one but it didn't have as much information as I would have hoped. So I'm hoping next time I will be able to find better information.
